In discussions with TELKOM to move the CAMERA

Due to the eagles deciding to nest on the "TELKOM TOWERS" we had to go to Telkom to negotiate putting the Webcam on their tower so that we can follow the Eagle's breeding season and not lose any breeding data...


TELKOM has been extremely accommodating and we have high expectations that we will have approval before end April 2014, however it might be too late as the eagles are already giving indications that they might have laid their first egg.

2013 Chick M'lilwane getting ready to fledge!!!

Our fourth successfull chick M'lilwane is getting ready to spread her wings, this beautiful eagle is busy with all kinds of wing excersizes and resting up before she will fledge during the last week of August or first week of September...

Have a look at the NESTCAM to see photo's that are updated every 5 minutes if there is movement!!!


2012 Breeding season started

We went to the Reserve yesterday and witnessed both eagles, their nest also shows signs of refurbishment, unfortunately they left the reserve at around 9:07 and moved to the Telkom Lattice Tower on the Mountain View side of the mountain, they spent well over an hour here on the same nest they built last year, hopefully it is still their secondary nest and will not be used for egg laying.

It is usual for Verreaux's eagles to build two nests, but they will favour one nest above the other,...

Breeding season officially started

The Breeding season has officially started, today Natasja and myself witnessed for ourselves copulating by the eagle pair. It was both miraculous and of great anguish to us, as they decided to copulate or mate on a telkom Lattice tower - Nesting activity has also begun with our eagles spending about 80% of their nest building time building on the Lattice tower and only 20% building on the Wonderboom Nature reserve nest.
